So many of us are almost always in a hurry...either rushing to somewhere or rushing from somewhere or even both rushing from and to somewhere. There is always something that needs to be done "immediately." A principle that I try to live, by which a dear colleague has reinforced, several times this year is:
To be successful in anything,
you need 80% planning + 20% execution.
Recently, I've noticed that lots of people jump into things - courses, careers etc. without taking time to think them through. At the other extreme is people who analyze and over -analyze things until analysis-paralysis keeps them from progressing their dreams and/or ambitions.
Proverbs 21:5 -
Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run;
hurry and scurry puts you further behind. (The Message)
Taking this verse into consideration, to progress at the right pace, it is important to know when to slow down in order to speed up and when to speed up so that your "slowing-down" doesn't end in a total STOP and shutdown. It takes practice to know when to "rush" and also know when to slow down but not get rusty.
You know where are in your life so I challenge you to assess whether it is time to "slow down to speed up" or time to speed up to success. As we enter the last quarter of the year - winding down the year and preparing from the year ahead - for me, this is the right time to slow down so I can speed up next year.
Have a great Q4!
