There is so much we can learn from the attributes and attitudes of many creatures both scripturally and physically - 2 of my favourite are the eagle & lion. Here are some quotes that sink deep and ring true for me:
Eagles come in all shapes and sizes,
but you will recognize them chiefly by their attitudes.
~ E. F. Schumacher
Celebrate your success and stand strong when adversity hits, for when the storm clouds come in, the eagles soar while the small birds take cover. ~ Author unknown
You know, I’m an eagle, flying around in the mountains. ~ Link Wray
One lesson I learned last year (and I'm living this year) is:
You cannot conquer mountains by avoiding them.
A truly strong person does not need the approval of others any more than a lion needs the approval of sheep.
~ Vernon Howard
The one excellent thing that can be learned from a lion is that whatever a man intends doing should be done by him with a whole-hearted and strenuous effort. ~ Chanakya
A powerful combination to ensure success is having
the vision of an eagle and the heart of a lion.
~ Robert G. Allen
All these quotes are simply a reaffirmation of the Word of God:
Prov 28: 1b: Good [righteous] people are as brave [confident] as a lion. (Expanded Bible)
Isaiah 40: 31: But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.
So who is an EL? An Empowered Lady (or Woman)...someone like you - yes YOU - who has Eagle and Lion atttributes and attitudes within...and without.
The world needs more ELs...so be one and mentor* more. Yes YOU can do it!
"Value-add" has been a common term for several years - such that in some countries there's the tax for value-added (i.e. VAT). Well, it's not enough to mouth these phrases so we "sound" as if we're in tune with current phrases...we need to know what they mean and how to be part of that movement i.e. live it.
I like Albert Einstein's recommendation: Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
John Maxwell takes it one step further in saying that: To add value to others, one must first value others. Hence you must seek and know what is of value - knowing that one person's trash is another person's treasure and vice versa.
The easiest way to check if you know what's of value is how you manage your time - and what you do with it.
Until you add value to yourself,
you won't value your time.
Until you value your time,
you won't do anything with it.
~ M. Scott Peck

“Life happens” – that’s
a phrase that I have heard so many times in the last 5 or so years and wonder
why some people use it as an excuse not to step up and be more.
No one can control what happens to them in life. You can
only control your response to what happened to you. You always have a choice to
become better or bitter when “negative” things happen to you. The fact that
someone else got the job or promotion that you had always wanted is not a
reason to become bitter. It should motivate you to keep working towards your purpose
in life which is bigger than one job. Have you ever wondered why you are here – at this time? Why
were you not born decades earlier or later? “The
two most important days in your life are the day you are born and
the day you find out why.” ~ Mark Twain Discovering why you were born requires a lot of digging and is hard work. For this valuable work to be rewarding and sustainable, you need to be
committed to discovering your purpose and pursuing it with passio…
